Distant Lands Dream Sequence
Periodically in Distant Lands we will save all of your original (current)
characters, delete all characters, and let everyone start from level 100.
When any staff member who is able and wants to, they can load equipment for
you. Then after some period of time (usually established by Implementors)
everything will be erased again and your original characters will be back and
the game will resume as if it had never stopped. In DL, this is refered to as
a Distant Lands Dream Sequence.
A few things worth noting about Dream Sequences:
o It gives players a chance to learn about equipment, classes, creature
difficulty and other things without permanent reprecussions.
NOTE: Abuse of this privledge can result in permanent reprecussions.
o It gives the staff a chance to test things such as new code without
the possibility of adversely affecting the general balance of the game.
o It also gives the staff the ability to test the stability of new code.
o Typically all characters start at level 100. However, often arenas are
run for levels enabling players to find out more about being avatars in
each of the different classes.
o All characters will start with all spells, skills and proficiencies
(available to their class) practiced to the best of their character's
current abilities.
o You will start the game with an exceptional set of equipment.
When you roll your character, the first suit of clothing you enter the
game with will not be the standard "leather helm and newbie dagger"
sort of thing. All NPCs and items will be set to 100% load rate.
That means every item on every NPC will "repop" for each zone reset.
o It is recommended that you create a list of "dream equipment" that you
would like to try out if there is a Dream Sequence. That way when a
staff member is ready to give you equipment, you will be ready with what
to ask for. Due to the enhanced starter gear you now enter the game with
the staff will be loading equipment on a relaxed schedule. Don't just
depend on us, try to get your own gear.
o YOU MUST NAME THE EXACT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.
Example: > say Can I have a large combat knife?
o YOU CANNOT MAKE GENERIC REQUESTS.
Example: > Can I have the best sword in the game?
o During Dream Sequences, equipment rarities are not enforced, that is
to say, all equipment is available to you, however, you may only have 1
of any particular item loaded for you by a staff member.
o Player killing and thieving should still be roleplayed (with potential
REAL GAME consequences if they are not). And, in fact, this should
be a perfect time to roleplay thieving and killing... Just imagine, you
can be the one to be murdered and have no permanent reprecussions.
