I was wondering if any thought was being given to letting characters choose to develop different key skills as they grow to kinda add some diversity to the game, like say at level 10 or 20 your warrior could choose to pursue first-aid to raise healing rates, and say at level 30 or 40 maybe defense skills to give a better armor class and so on. I’m not sure if this would be a coding nightmare but it would allow us to kinda personalize our characters a bit vs. just being an equipment / luck of the roll based game. I think this would bring a fresh approach to mudding, and with the cap on equipment the way it is this would give new players some hope of actually becoming competitive with those who started / loaded most of the good gear long ago.

There are lots of things in the works. Nezmar has a long list of coding priorities but can only do so much at once. I've seen part of his list myself and there are some amazing things on it! But this does sound like a very cool idea!
And as for "all" of the "good gear" being already loaded, well, there is plenty out there still. Besides the fact that the bigger the player base grows the higher the cap on the really rare eq goes: ie - More players = more "limited" eq. But there are also things yet to be discovered, explore and find some of it! New areas are also being built as we speak and I'm sure they'll be added here and there. Several were added right after the last DLDS!

Yes, new items always worth to be explored.
But i have another issue i think most players might
interested. Coz everybody knows death and constitution is related tightly in our fantastic game. But there are only few ways to increase our
con extremely hard and rare chance.
What i gonna say is that is it able to increase the
possiblity to get those items or increase the possiblity to increase con.
Maybe sometime we are so afraid that during the exploring and killing will lose the most important
constitution.

I agree with Kyo, it would be nice
if there was an easier way to get
or earn con. point back.

I guess it is my fault i've died
so much but i've been so unlucky
with con losses on my main char.
that it is almost depressing.

And I am one of those people Kyo
mentioned being affraid to explore,
since most of the time it is that you
die in an unknown area.

It does suck to loose con and I have a character that I permi killed. Whatever the circumstances for that character dieing, he's gone. All those hours spend on getting him up there, and I must say, rather strong... and it's over. It is very discouraging. With old Gydin, I had 3 con flasks. One two of them, my next death lost a con. I lost 3 con in a row. 3 deaths equaled 3 con. Not very fair if ya ask me.
I would much rather have to loose a few levels, have items stop working until I got those levels back, loose the spells etc, and have to find my corpse, than loose a con. So much nicer the old way when you die... heck I'll even wait to get a resu if needed, but if I come back on my own, then looks like I'm gonna have to get my corpse or have someone else get it. So I gotta beg others to help get my corpse back as I stand there nekked and pretty much helpless. So much more fun then... "Hrm, lost another con, well, 2 to go and I'll have to completely start over." That's what I did.
This Gydin is not as strong as the old Gydin. I rolled this character for almost 2 hours and finally had to settle with stats. Last Gydin I rolled for 2 hours and had the best stats ever, this time I had to settle. Because of that my con is lower, my mana is much lower, and my moves are higher... funny that.

Con loss sucks, it's so easy to lose it, but not to get it back. The chance of someone finding a con flask is pretty low. I found one and sold it, then my next death (I got shrieked for 210 hp) cost me a con. It is discouraging to lose con, but I think everyone is fairly careful. I do agree that I was too reckless when I'd just lose a level or two. Loosing con more or less forces people to be more careful and in return that allows people to explore less. No longer is it, "WHOAH! Did you see how many prompts that guy took to kill me?" it is now, "wow, surprise, surprise, I lost another con, I'll never go there ever again."

No point to this story, just that con loss is bad and the methods to gaining back that con is even... badder.

Yeah, i have the same feeling...
Mobs are tough, new areas are dangerous, lost con risky.....
Even a barbarian who get a con flask on hand but couldnt
quaff.....
Thought it is not that fair for my class isnt it?
I raised this kind of issue before for con flask and
level flask. I think it reasonable for barbies to ask
for a changing.
