If you scroll all the way up to the top of the web site on any page and look to the left hand side there is a fair sized blank space. I propose we figure out how to put links to the last 5 forum posts in a box right there above the main menu (much like what topmudsites.com has) so that we can see what is new without having to login or scan through all the dates of the posts.

Best regards,

I like it. That's all on you though. What I do is log on and check to see if there is a gold envelope next to anything, open it up, and look for more gold envelopes. Suits me just fine.

This still needs work, but it illustrates what I'm looking for...

Ooooooh, that's what you're talking about. That's nice. Then you can just click what has recently been noted. Nice.

Maybe you could make it a scroll box?

I think the main page needs a redesign.
That way you can plan ahead and make
space for anything like recent threads, etc
in a more presentable way.

I would have seen it under the main menu box, and having a larger logo.
Best regards,

YAY, Vulsin is back :D

So, speaking of the forum, can we get the phpBB updated? I've seen some with 'page 1,2>next' at the TOP of the thread as well as the bottom....saves time scrolling thru long threads (have you SEEN the Macros thread?!).

And to comment on the original idea here, it's a good idea, but I'm not fussy on putting it in the top left corner, looks a little too busy. IMO under the Main Menu box is fine.

I'm actually working on rewriting the site in PHP (as opposed to just static HTML like it is now) so that way changes like the forum post box would be easier to implement.

I've started converting more and more, but haven't really uploaded much yet. When the changeover is complete, I'll post in the announcement area... and of course it will be plainly visible when you visit the site ;)

The real thing that needs to be done is we need to make a custom web site that interacts with the game. I'm thinking I'm going to start this fairly soon. The first part I'll do is going to be an interactive RP character sheet (with character blogging/wiki/basic image/HTML type capabilities, I'm thinking). Then you'd be able to have a web URL for your character and it would allow you to customize both public and private (staff/self) views of different parts of the data so that you can more fully flush out your character and your character's history.

Knowing me and my busy schedule, it will probably be a year before it is ready for basic testing, but it is a project I'm really interested in pursuing.

Does it sound appealing to you? Should it be a priority or is actual game code more important?

Best regards,

--Nezmar

thats a pretty cool idea and would help people not so rp intelligent to get into there characters more deeply
on the subject of being a priority or not over coding well i really don't have your coding schedule to know this but i do know coding takes along time so that ill leave to you

I think that would actually be a great idea.

Another thing I would like to implement is logging into the website with your DL account. I'm starting to flesh out ideas for a web-based interface to the game (not Java, but with Ruby on Rails/AJAX) so you can play from any web browser, anywhere, anytime. I'd like to make all non-RP boards available on the website after logging in with your DL account on the site (the RP only boards would be available to staff to view/edit.)

I would definitely like to have the website interface with the game in many facets; it could definitely make administration a fair bit easier in some facets, as well as open up a whole new way to play the game. Imagine being able to interact with your character's inventory with a web-based interface. Certain forums could be designated for trading and some of it could take place on the website. Click your inventory, click transfer or something, and bam: trade done.

The website is getting a total facelift, but I'm having problems deciding on a layout.

Yes, yes, and yes! But I really need a strong commitment on this... of course there will be times when life needs to come first, as always, but we really need to keep at it. This is going to be amazing if we do what I think we'll do. I've been going crazy trying to find little Ruby projects here and there, let's start with a RoR RP Character Sheet. I'll setup a server just for this purpose shortly, please talk to me on wiznet on the build server when you are available. If I'm not around, have a look at the macros towards the end of the Test Library (1) and marvel at my coding prowess! Errr... if you want, else consider something else.

Best regards,
