Here's a concept. Item loan. You have an item in your possession that someone really wants to try out for a while you're away, whatever. The min loan price could be 1% of it's appraisal per hour. If the item app for 100k, it'll be 1k per hour to borrow it, max 48 hours. Once the time is up, and you can check a timer on how long you have the item, the item warns you the minute before it goes away and then vanishes and goes into the loaners safety deposit box at the bank, which can only hold loaned items. The box is also used for when you agree to loan an item to someone who has the appropriate amount of gold on them; the item will go into the safety box and they can pick it up and start using it. The loaned item cannot be stolen, dropped, or tithed. If it gets damaged all the way, it goes back into the safety box of the person who loaned it, undamaged, the loan period is over. (Sorry, you couldn't take care of it, you probably couldn't handle it anyways.) Maybe if you borrowed it for 48 hours, but on hour 4 you scrapped it, you could get back half of the money you would have been out. That would require seperate loan bank account that only holds loan money and every hour that passes, some money is taken out and auto deposited into your regular bank account. This would prevent you from spending all the money, than having insufficient funds to repay.

Not a bad thought, I'm sure it's a ton of coding though. Here's some thoughts on what could happen.

Loan price dust
-That item would cost 1k per hour to loan out -
Loan dust gydin
-error, you must state the time of the loan-
Loan dust gydin 48
-Would you like to loan a blue ball of fairy dust to gydin for 48 hours?-
Yes
-Gydin is holding insufficient funds currently-
"Gydin you twit, get the gold"
Loan dust gydin 48
-Would you like to loan a blue ball of fairy dust to gydin for 48 hours?-
yes
-error, a blue ball of fairy dust is currently damaged, please fix it if you wish to loan it.-
Loan dust gydin 48
-Waiting on Gydins reply-
-Gydins 48k in gold is taken from him and placed into your loan account. A blue ball of fairy dust is taken from you and has been deposited into Gydins Loan deposit box.-

On Gydin's side he'd see:
-Nusa would like you loan you a blue ball of fairy dust for 48 hours, totalling 48k, is this okay?-
Yes
-48k in gold is taken from you and placed into Nusa's loan account. A blue ball of fairy dust is waiting for you in your loan deposit box.-

I would suggest the confirming of the loan by the person wishing to borrow the item otherwise people could just "test" you and loan you a crap item and might actually get the gold.

Voila. I hope everyone likes the idea. It's a way to make money still off great items you've loaded with out getting rid of it if you still wanna use it. The borrower then can use it and decide if they wanna keep chasing after it, or even buy it at a later time.

...and what would happen if you scrapped the item while you were testing it out?

I actually like this idea bunches. I think he said scrapped items return immediately to deposit box. With a portion of money lost and a portion returned. Unless I can't read anymore, which is a distinct possibility.
