I was just thinking is it possible for us to have a map command so when you type map it shows you a map of the part of the area you are in i just think that really would help new characters as well.
thanks

Should it be limited to just new players? A certain level range of, say, 1 to 25? Perhaps if they have higher-level characters on the same account (like if they have a level 70 paladin as well) then they can't use it on their newly rolled monk?

I'm all for helping out new players, definitely.

Perhaps if we want to use this for some of the veteran players as well, we can introduce something like a cartography skill to allow map creation? I know definitely that rangers should get it, and I'm sure others should as well. Just an idea to help nudge this along :)

Cartography would be a useful skill, but just about anyone who finds a piece of paper, and a pen in game could make a map on the paper.

As for a map command, I like it, but I'd guess it would be somewhat challenging to create a dynamic map, unless any use of the map command starts from the Turien fountain.

Maybe a Path command command, one that keeps track of how far away from the fountain, or zone exit you are would come in handy. I know I sometimes get lost for awhile, and I'm forced to either recall, go link-dead, or stumble around blindly until I find my way out, or die an unpleasant death...

Or maybe, open up a Cartography shop, and sell maps to players, that start at the fountain. That might work, and depending on the level of players experience, higher level zone maps have higher prices, which also would discourage newer players from buying them, until they had the money/exp/eq necessary to survive it.

Thats more than 2 cents worth,

Dref
