Available races: Turien human, rocksport human, dallenport human, half-elf, moon elf, golden elf, hairfoot halfling, tall fellow halfling, stout halfling.

Swordsinger Pros: The ability to sing some bardic spells. A larger weapon repertoire than is available to bards. Minor repairing capabilities. A unique spell exclusive to the Swordsinger class.

Swordsinger Cons: Slow spell, skill and proficiency progression. A lesser variety of spells than bards get. A lesser variety of weapon proficiencies than either bards or warriors. A lesser variety of spells than a bard would have. The inability to cast spells without wielding a sword class weapon.

The spell sword symphony is a unique spell to the Swordsinger class. This spell affects all members of the party, making the swordsinger a good addition to any group. The spell gives the party some small benefits to combat, such as your ability to hit, the damage dealt, and the ability to sustain more damage. The spell lasts an undetermined amount of time before it must be re-cast.

The Swordsinger class is more or less a cross between a warrior and a bard. Thus, being a hybrid class like a ranger or paladin, it would have similar progression for prompts, hit point, songs, et cetera. The swordsinger class

also relies on their weapon to perform their magic. As such, a swordsinger's songs, without a sword in hand, will have no effect.

Here's another class I drummed up for you guys. Hope you like it!

Warmest regards,
Jorlain

PS: Once again I apologize for the crappy parsing. I can't seem to figure out what's affecting it.

I like this one more than the other one (not that the other one sucks, just a personal preference). What do you see as the spells/profs etc this class would get when it hits Av?

Well, they would definitely get bard and warrior. The third class is kind of up in the air, though.

Maybe something like warrior/bard/thief.

Jorlain

What about some sort of enchant weapon spell/song as well? I read an awesome series of books by Jennifer Roberson that was about sword-dancers and sword-singers. (The Tiger and Del series - I'll post a link in the books folder here in the forums if anyone is interested.) They would sing when their sword was being created to put their own special magic into it. I see awesome RP potential for a 'sword singer' class.

Well, ideally, I'd love to be able to just write up a ton of new spells/skills, et cetera for this class. However, I have no idea how much effort is involved in coding such things.

That being said, I only made one new spell or skill for each of the classes that I designed. I needed to add something to make them unique, but not so much that it'd take endless manhours of coding to implement.

Though, the idea of being able to cast Enchant Weapon Song is a good one. Creating them, though, I try not to give them many, if any, of the high level spells, since that's more or less what makes a class what it is.

That being said, though... Enchant Weapon isn't a very effective spell in this game. It can only be cast on weapons that have no other enchantments (ie the weapon can't have any other properties such as damage, hit roll, et cetera) as far as I know. Which inevitably makes this spell somewhat lackluster, where the only instances it's really useful is to enchant a weapon for a newbie, or for things like the item wipe, where people will be able to enchant the primitive weapons they can find.

Although, we could always change the Sword Symphony spell to be something like the imbue weapon skill I suggested for the Spellsword class.

Warmest regards,
Jorlain
