I guess it only makes sense that I would suggest this idea being that I'm a weather freak :P

Have it so that certain months out of the year different weather patterns occur. Snowfall comes to mind. I think it would definitely be neat to have snow accumulations and such. Think about it: Snowball fights!

Of course with the pretty comes the not-so-pretty. That lightning you see flashing across the sky? Real damage (though a VERY low strike rate so you don't get blitzed every 5 minutes hehe). High winds that will blow things around (including players, if it's strong enough.)

Minimal effects on playability of the game would be of concern, though. It would be funny (to me) to see people duking it out on an icy street. Perhaps this could lead to some other interesting combat situations. Have the snow, mud, water, whatever leave tracks so that trackers (rangers, etc) can have something to go by. Currently, I have no idea what tracking goes by, but it would be cool to have something in there so it makes sense ;)

Ideas? Thoughts? Feedback!

I would like to see some of those as well, could be a new twist on combat. To simulate Icy roads and the like, try making the bash miss prompt happen to people who are fighting outside? For strong winds, same effect. Opposed strength checks from DnD come to mind when considering moving people/items etc aroudn frmo room to room.

Tracking should pretty muh be automatic after a snowfall, while during the snowfall it would be harder. Same for rainfall and heavy winds.

Just my three and a half cents.

you know maybe your weather paterns aren't such a unvivid idea. the use of snow and other functinos is nice, at the same time you often feel a warm breeze from the south in Turien, and the dallenport Gulf stretches very closely to the southern horizen. SO, you condition flags would have to have their own places in the game; I don't buy this monthly weather changes. WHAT I really don't buy is the lets see people play under icy conditions and add certain things to game. I mean seriously, your so bored you're gonna watch us have even more continual snow and nice problems outisde of life? Dude, I get enoughs snow and icy; I havn't seen the earthern ground for 5 weeks. *thumbs down foro the minimal effects*.

If people were serious enough to want some snow, I suppose adding it in isn't up to me. But once the big guy gives you guys several variations of weather, don't blow it big time and start asking for situational accidents like where a little lightweight character would freeze to death in certain weather regions.

-oatmeal, good overall idea.
