I see a title on The dl Website about Legends. I was just thinking maybe we should start naming Legends.
In my opinion here are a few dl legends.
Dreylor he i think took the game to a whole new level.
Kyo he was the first to be level 199 and helped so many on his way
Aldeis One of the best players i have seen in all of my years.
Lascar Everyone loves a massive assassin and also fear his power.
Nas Excellent roleplayer inspired fun on dl.
Lyshia A real cleric in my opinion her motto is to keep people alive and with all that mana she does it better than anyone.
Ruthied The most friendly helpful Mage ever if you even mention a spell he will have it casted on you before you can even ask for it.
That was just a few off the top of my head please post any others that you class as a legend of Distant Lands

Sylvar - for being one of the most badass characters of all time, and having one of the better personalities around here.

Bannik - There's just something about a cleric that could pass as a warrior one second, but turn to mana battery the next second. Kudos Bannik, I couldn't do it even if I tried.

Levune - The highest level druid around, and she knows the game better than most of us could even imagine. It's like a new-age Aquila.

Piirz - Everyone used to fear seeing "Piirz has entered the arena," because if she was on a horse, the game was over. Back when the game just started back up, Piirz was one of the best around, and will always be in my book.

It may sound conceited, but Kamaria for the constant help to others when they need it, the restrings, and the hit points. I hate talking about myself.

 Hahahameow,

This topic is actually one worth taking the time to mention all of you.

This list wouldn't be right unless I started out the best one first.

Kibbles/Kamaria for being the best friend a halfling could ask for.
I've spent alot of time invested into these windows and throughout
it all I've always had one amazing person to rely on and confide in.
You all might just take Kamaria to be one of the larger assassins and all that glorious whatnot concerning the queen of restring. However,
beyond the character lies a great personality and one hell of a tactician when it comes to manipulating your skills and abilities in order to become a one of a kind individual.

I don't think legends need to be the biggest character in the game to be noticed.
This is why I call the next group the reject legends.
Vladikus, Gydin, Zeromus, Clea, Gomuae, as well ny of
the rest of you that have ever permadied and rerolled, kept
ont rocking and rolling. If I've forgotten your name then I appologize.
These are the three I regularly keep on playing with.
Some of the times I've seen others whom have permadied, then
left and never returned. It takes a lot of insanity and stupidity to
keep on playing with one constitution like the way you would with several constitution points. So for those of us whom have dropped,
and rerisen in the lifecycle of the game, just oatmeal awesome.

Third from the top, I want to nominate Eracules.
Never has another player so seriously **** me off that I'd go all radical out and take it to the limits as I normally do. Because of this bald stone headed guy, I've been shapped into a better player with the proper respect and help of two beloved friends. If I didn't have challenges like this guy to keep me on my wits end then roleplay would've just become that thing you do with friends for a few hours,
which is fine, but because of his hardcore unwillingness to change too much, I was left to adapt, appreciate, and respect that of a fellow friend.. Beyond the qualities to **** yours truely off, this guy will always be one hell of a friend, and throughout his reign he's been a nonstop
affiliate for the help and aid to our newbie basin..
Sure you could mention the qualities like he's the games biggest warrior, and quite possibly one of the first 200th level strains of characters.
But I wanted to mention something more memorial.
For being a bigger jerk than Ghraf and one hell of a guy to put up
with me through a serious significant outlook change,
The bald dude rocks.

Unlike the previous poster, I'm not concieted, I'm hubris.
Lets take a second to look at two of the lesser and often overlooked
classes. When I first started there were only four of the predacessors that lurked in the shadows. Thanks to Lucia and Raziel for giving me a few directional pointers.
I'm nominating myself here as Gomuae/Atanih for being the
nonstop ninjutsu ninja force that will always be around and reckoned with. It's a class I've see far to few willing to pick up and hold steady.
And because the lack thereof me being the only one, I've had to look
to monks for friendships.
So thanks kajik, baenothen, and phoeus for being around, but most
importantly thank you Baenothen for being the best monk friend a
ninja could ever partner up with. Seilialia too for that matter.
Anyone whom has ever picked up a stun class you're appreciated too
and will always be in my book of records as an amazing player.

This list couldn't be complete without the O'Bannons like you've all suggested. I watched them personaly rise above us all from the ranks of the shadows storm. Without them I'm not sure where this game would be at this particular juncture. Each and every one of you is splendid in so many ways. I appreciate all the time that has been invested from them and hope for the days when Jarde will once again roam the crevices of the Distant Lands planet.

Baernov, the dwarf with the halfling casket. Roleplay with this guy during my halfling crusades has been most noteably interesting and enjoyable. Thanks to the rugged mountainier for being an exquisite vise for the roleplayling mainstream.

Oh how this list could grow and flourish but I'll leave the other nominations to you guys. I've had my fairshare of input. Perhaps more will be added at a later date. Until then, best of love and enjoy yourselves.

Ok i forgot to mention two legends before.

Nusa he should have been in my first post. This guy is also a warrior/Cleric he is going round killing stuff that would take big groups to kill and the power has not gone to his head he is still one of the best guys around.

Alysandir/Mortius/Grumbledorf. Do i really have to say much here the guy has 2 avatars and one near avatar he helps people more than most and its excellent at rp the guy is one heck of a player.

Thanks for the kind words :) Thought i'd give my words on a few legends I won't forget

Eldarus and Bais, very old players but probably taught me about DL and everyday stuff more than anybody I can remember.
Tons of old players that really got me into this game, Ladychance, Trilly, Kajik, Pheous, Aquila, Praticus, Remalist, Kysandrian, Layoric, Sirus, Raziel, Jenova/Anubas, Aramak, Mzia, Borbarad, Roakster, Kindra, Jaron, Synia, Sol, and any other old school players that I may have missed that really made this such an enjoyable game for me :) You guys are missed if you ever hop on and read this.

Definitely need to put a hand up for all the new players i've come to respect and play with over the years as well, you've really made a mark on this game.

Eracules, constantly coming up with new ideas and new ways to mix things up, but never too much to remind us all that you're a pro at the basics and can tank asguard in 100HP or less :) you're an arena nightmare, seriously.

Efori/Vladikus, known you since the Raziel days and we've had good times always, damned persistent player, who else could kill off two Vladikus's and still come back for round 3 as Efori. Shown a lot of character to support this game and i'm sure we'll be questing for avatar together in no time :)

Gydin, you've definitely made this game credible and a good time and you're always thinking on your feet about new ways to go at things, haha, and you've definitely shown me that if you keep at anything long enough it'll load :) i may have told you that, but you really hit it home and proved that point.

guildus for sure is up there, the game would definitely be a bore without your ways to keep things fresh and different, always finding ways to keep things interesting.

Kyo, massive barbarian that showed me tons of new things when i first started again and really showed me the ropes and set the bar when the game became completely new for me again

Kyran, you may not know it, but you're half the reason i play this game, since the Richter days you really made this game alive and more than a game, sucks that all that new code didn't work out because you had some incredible ideas in there, you really need to bring St Bernard back :) that was one of the greatest zones in this game and people still mention stuff from there all the time, Corinthias was the bomb.

Jak, You definitely add a lot to this game, and always trying to find a balance between staff and the player side of it, you really do add the best of both worlds finding ways with your experience on both sides to really add to the game, i always look to you for perspectives on new things and you give great insight from a player's perspective as well as a staffer which is not an easy thing

Lascar, Teancie, Nusa, sorry for clumping you guys all together, this is just getting really long :) all three of you add tons to this game, you guys really make the game stand out
and have helped me out more than you can imagine with gear/levels/experience/exploration and just overall fun-ness out of this place we call home

There have been many wonderfully successful gear loaders.
There have been many sincerely generous and helpful players.
They come and go, replaced by other kind and skilled players.
But the one who makes this Mud feel almost empty with their absence is

Malifaxis / Grel

He is the best Role-player that this Mud has ever seen and will ever see.
I wish you were still here bro.

I couldn't agree with you more. Distant Lands would be a different world
with him here.

Unfortunately, Grel's unreliable and/or doesn't care about us. He came back and looked at the macro code (which I largely came up with and wrote because I knew he wanted some type of NPC scripting) and he said he would help with testing it and coming up with stuff for the DLDS. That was January 26th, 2008 and he hasn't been back since. And yes, this is me publicly calling him out on it (not that it will do any good), because I miss him too!

Best regards to all,

--Nezmar

*thwap Nezmar*

Grel may be full of slack and he may have lost his desire fnord to be a part of this imaginary construct of 1's and 0's. But I can assure you that he does care about the many friends he made here, he is that kind of person fnord.

*unthwap* (Ha! You don't have that power, do ya?!)

I meant *us* the DL community (not each of us as individuals, Grel and I have a long enough history that I know he cares about me personally).

Best regards,

--Nezmar
