I have once again made some modifications to the DL2-Client, the main difference is that it no longer uses the proxy server or encryption, hopefully it will be faster. I have shutdown the proxy server so old version will not work, you must use this new version if you want to use our custom client:

Here are some links to the different versions:

Windows - DL2-Client.exe
Linux - DL2-Client.exe

Builder versions (makes for much easier editing):

Windows - DL2-Build.exe
Linux - DL2-Build.exe

Again, please note previous versions will NOT work, you'll need to re-download it.

Best regards,

just some input on the new client, LOVE it, im actually using it over Zmud now
few things to add, would be nice to have a reconnect button, when my net goes down for a moment and comes back up i can't just reconnect, i have to restart the program and lose all my changed fonts/window placement
which leads to the next thing, im guessing its in the works but it would be sweet to have window placement/fonts saved

the new group feature on the notebook is SWEET i really like it, i love being able to move seperate parts of the notebook around, i keep all the icons along the right side of the screen and the group info on the top part of the screen

also removing the proxy encryption stuff made the program much more usable for me, i kept getting errors before with it and the client would only work after closing and reopening it 5 or 6 times but now it works 100% of the time, please keep that off in future versions

im not sure how viable this is but i saw it on aardwolf, a minimap of not only the zone you're in but another minimap of the entire world and you move around as a highlighted dot on it similar to a map in say the legend of zelda, how doable would this be? i think its a cool idea, but mapping the entire mud might be kind of impossible, but for future zones i think it would be cool to have, if you enter a new zone a minimap pops up so you can keep track of where you relatively are in the building/area

i think it would be nice to have aliases built into the program instead of into the mud, there's a limit on how many aliases you can save onto your character and with all the aliases i use i actually break that limit which is why i enjoy zmud, i can save all aliases right into the client and not take up space on the server, would be nice if the client did that as well, it would slow down the server less and aliases would be retained on my PC instead.

overall the client is definitely getting into the fully usable stage for me, im still flipping back and forth between it and zmud but using it more and more as it gets more solid

The idea of the map is a nifty idea, but I don't see how it should just pop up when you enter the area. It would have to be something that would need to be explored and discovered and possibly added to the character's personal map via the client. All of which sound.. like far too much work than what is needed on it right now.

Kudos to the Nezmar for making a great client, and upgrading it to far higher expectations than I could have imagined. As Arioka has stated though, the reconnect, saving of desired settings would enhance the DL Client experience a bit.

oh!

I'd like to be able to adjust colours a bit as well, they colours seem a bit bland during fights and stuff, criticals show the same as other hits and stuff

I posted updated versions of DL2-Client.exe and DL2-Build.exe for Windows (use the links on the top post), most of the changes are stuff under the hood that you shouldn't notice more or less. It will likely seem a little bit faster, also if you open up task manager to look at the processes they will now be registered correctly. I've just replaced the files so it is still the same links as above. If someone wants me to update the Linux versions let me know. I know it still needs a lot of work, I intend for this client to have a major impact on DL eventually. Thanks to anyone who helps to test it out.

If you are a builder, it is probably worth using the latest version this client.

Best regards to all,

Actually, don't use this for the real game quite yet (build version is ok), it has some problems with trying to connect to the game over and over. I'll post again when I've got a better version working. If you run into problems of not being able to connect because you've used this client try rebooting your computer or killing the process DL2-Client.exe in Task Manager.

Best regards,
