i dont know about everybody else but i really like hearing you thoughts and whats going on inside you head nez. you for sure dont have to think you have to explain yourself to us, i just enjoy hearing what everybody is thinking

Just goes to show that we all loved this place. Even the people who acted like dumb asses from time to time. I am still shocked and upset, but I also still respect your opinion Nez.

Sorry to hear about your decision. Although I am personally sad about it I am happy that you will have so much more time to enjoy life. I will miss my daily DL fix, and goofing off with my DL peeps. You made a great game that was tons of fun. Thanks for all the effort.

I have tried about 8 mudds so far and nothing compairs to DL. I am sorry I or anyone else ever complained about anything in DL. Gydin

I feel ya, Gydin. I've tried a few of them but it's just not the same - it's not home.

I stopped looking, there's no other mud that will ever fill the void that DL does, bottom line.

I have posted enough but i wanted to also say to nezmar you dont have to explain to us. Life has taken me away from the game a couple of times for many reason's frustration with the game, My overall lack of free time. I truely wish i did give more back to the game. Took some time to become a builder or a staffer. I really truely am frustrated that i did not get to see that side of this great game. But I would like to once again thank you and all your efforts in keeping this game running for how long you did. And as most of us i keep trying to log on in my gmud client everyday hoping to find out that you had a change of heart. However much respect to you and your family for putting up with us all these years.

Much love to all those players and staffers for keeping it fun while it was going.

I have to admit, I have a similar feeling. It seems I've been having a hard time coming up with the time or words to adequately express myself. I'm sorry. I still think about you all and DL quite frequently.

I did want to let you know that after discussions with Amaessara I came to the conclusion that there is very little (if any) real cost to us running DL (because for the most part we want the same Internet/computing services anyway). So that said, I don't intend to take the web site down for a while yet because it does provide a common communications platform.

I hope life is treating everyone well.

I personally fall between player type 2 & 5, and for being player type 2, I apologize.

In my heyday, I would log just as many hours as I could, usually with friends. The last several years I've really just drifted in and out on occasion, rarely contributing to the game, or to the general story.

If you want one more positive thing to add to the stack, it's that this game finally taught me how to type a helluva lot faster than I'd ever needed to before, and that accuracy can mean the difference between life and death.

Nezmar, keep working on whatever you're passionate about. Keep the memories of good times gone by, but look forward to what's next in life.

Nezmar...honestly I think everything you were doing in the last couple of months was amazing. I mean, like 15 people were on at a time, compared to the normal 2 or 3 that were on months before. Everything you have done in the last few months, everything you have implemented into the game has gotten so many new players into this awesome game...so many old players back into this awesome game! Come on! how can you just give up on all the work you have put into this awesome game! All the work everyone else has put into the game as well...I think that means something....Please respond?

This was/is not an easy decision for me to make, hopefully that is clear to everyone. I've put a great deal of effort into not just this game but its community. I've tried time and time again to pump "energy" into it (with what I would characterize to be some mild success). It needed to become more self sustaining and for a while it did... but more recently that was not the case. I don't remember seeing 15 people on, but if you say so. It's a start, but thinking back to the number of players we consistently had on (about 25 all times of the day) in about 1997 or so, it is pitiful (though I don't suppose that really matters). I always believed (and still believe if I put enough energy into it) we could have a very good sized player base (I really don't want it to be huge... mainly self sustaining). The real crux of the situation for me is that more recently my time has become extremely valuable. When I spend a significant amount of time focused on DL, there is now an associated significant opportunity cost to me. If I'm enjoying it and having fun, that's one thing. When it turns into just more work, that's quite another.

I do continue to have some interest in seeing DL "live on". As you point out, I and others have put a lot of energy into it. I just don't currently see a very good way to make that happen.
