Yep, I'm getting ready to give the DL website another facelift. I just re-synchronized ALL of the content on the site to my laptop, and have a mini test webserver of sorts running on said laptop. The site is going to look better (at least I think it will, anyway) and it's going to be a lot more efficient. Adding submissions will be a snap, plus there will be news on the front page without ME having to be the one to post it! So you can look forward to Nezmar, Myrrima, Alendamar and whoever else has an announcement to make, post their stuff on the front page. All registered users of the website will be able to leave comments to the stories and stuff.
And the only way I'm going to make this transition is if the current forum database links up perfectly to the new site database. I'm currently researching it, and I think I've found a solution, but I won't know for sure until I actually try it... I have the files downloading now. Once I find out that it works (hopefully), I'll begin making the graphics and color layout for the site. I really dig the blue theme, and lots of others do too (easy on the eyes, yes?) so I think I'll stick with that.. just make it prettier. I'm not going to add a bazillion graphics, because that would just slow things down. Heck, I opted for less graphics than the previous DL website because I thought it took too long to load. No offense to our previous webmaster (the site looked FABULOUS.. just too many big graphics).
But yeah, the big update is planned to be within the next couple few days hopefully, provided everything works as planned. We're also going to have new sections of the site, including a dedicated section for JUST roleplaying. Character sheets, examples, and even an RP log (definitely more later!) of the farmer and his wife RP that we did a week or so ago. Everyone involved in that one did awesome (and I hope everyone enjoyed it cause there's more on the way!) and it should be posted for all to see.
Anyway, I started to get offtopic, so time to go back to 1) My code editor (MS Visual C++ 2005), 2) My PHP/HTML editor (Wordpad/MS FrontPage 2003 respectively) and 3) My image editor (Paint Shop Pro 9) so we can get the show on the ROAD.
Oh, and for everyone asking 'When is DLDS'... soon. I hate being so vague, but the code's not done, but it's close, and circumstances probably won't allow us to have it within the next month. Trust me, guys and gals, it's worth the wait. You're gonna love this stuff
Some of you already know some of what I'm talking about, too
